Many prepaid wireless companies suffer from a lack of good cell phone handset options. This has been a problem for prepaid suppliers in the past. But now, Straight Talk has no such issue since it has freed the Samsung Finesse r810c for use on it is compensate as you go service. We have seen numerous changes in the prepaid world amongst the supposed prepaid price war and all of the new unlimited plans that were unveiled over the past year. Clearly, prepaid is now a viable option for more people looking to save cash or who just want to be free from a contract plan. One of the major deterrents that turns persons off from prepaid plans is the poor phone choice. Straight Talk Wireless has taken steps to remedy this problem by adding the Samsung Finesse r810c smartphone to it is phone options. This means that Straight Talk clients may use the Finesse with both of the company’s plans. The $30 All You Need plan is for 1,000 minutes of talk time and 1,000 text messages. In addition, clients get 30 mb of data. The $45 Unlimited Straight Talk plan is much like the Boost Mobile Monthly Unlimited prepaid plan because it provides unlimited use of your phone for talking, text messaging, and web browsing. In addition, subscribers to this plan also get limitless 411 calls and a plan that runs on a solid network (the Verizon prepaid network). There are a great deal of good looking plans out there that may save you cash and Straight Talk’s are right up there with the best of them and may even edge most others out. The fact that Straight Talk has put the Finesse into it is lineup (as MetroPCS did before it) shows that it wants to be aggressive in courting new users and may even release more smartphones that work with it is plans in the future. This phone has a big (3.2 inch) screen that is bright and attractive, which matches the pleasant look of the phone’s shape and style. The phone used EVDO selective information access and an html browser, which makes surfing the Internet and accessing email very simple and painless. Finesse likewise has a decent camera that takes stills and even video footage. It is simple to add extra memory to the phone if you store a lot of data. On the other side of things, the Samsung Finesse is rather pricey at $329 just for the phone. This is pretty costly for a prepaid phone, but gorgeous intermediate for a smartphone. Still, if you think you’re getting an iPhone competitor, think again. The Finesse may have plentiful higher end functionality, but it will not replace (prepaid or otherwise) the beloved iPhone. It does not have the capacity to use third-party apps or “apps,” it doesn’t have wi-fi support, and it reportedly does not stream video that well. Still, it compensate to do not forget that Straight Talk prepaid plans do run on Verizon’s prepaid wireless network, which is a very good thing. All that being said, for a cell phone user looking for the intersection of a very lowcost prepaid plan and a smartphone, this phone might be worth considering. However, I HAVE to say, I had a problem fitting my droid onto this dock until couple of hours ago since this dock is somewhat confusing as to how it should be set up. When I opened the box, I saw only couple parts needed in order to put this dock together. I thought, “how confusing would it be to just build this simple dock!?” and ignored the User Guide. Well, several seconds later after I pulled the dock out of the box, I realized my DROID 2 while its case on will no way fit into this dock base. I was disappointed and put the dock aside for couple of weeks as I was contemplating on returning it. It seemed a lot of work having have to remove my case every day just to charge (…even for its good looks). I carry my DROID 2 in my purse with other things and carrying it without its case seemed unwise decision (the screen is protected by a screen protector). So finally I decided to return the dock, and was double checking to see whether I included all the equipment back into the box prior to bring it back to the store. Then I glanced the User Guide and noticed it says (in rather small font) “Use the insert unless you have Motorola protective case on your phone” along with the drawing that suggests there is actually an insert installed onto the dock that you need to remove it if you want to use Droid 2 with the case! I looked the dock closely to see if there really was such a thing called “insert” that was removable. Anyhow, I uploaded several photos so I hope they help someone out there. It is my fault that I didn’t take a look at the Users Manual. However, I wish Motorola made the package graphic in a way that was more self-explanatory than how it is now, in addition to stating it on the User Guide (in a larger font). However, it’s a good news if Motorola actually heard and fixed the problem from the previous model (Original DROID multimedia station) by making it compatible with DROID 2 phone while its case on this time. Just like previous model (and as you can see on my uploaded pictures), this dock WILL NOT WORK with DROID X. This dock does what’s supposed to do (I would say battery recharge takes as much time as you’d recharge it in a usual way).
